Paper Prediction
Effect: A girl writes anything she wants on a piece of paper. The paper is ripped up and burned. You are able to predict what she wrote.
Secrets: When you rip up the paper, you are able to secretly keep the piece with her prediction and look at it while the other parts are burning.
Performance: Get a small piece of paper and draw a circle in the middle. Turn around and ask your girl to draw or print anything she wants in the center. Have her fold it in half so you can't see. Turn around and fold it in half again so it makes a square. At this point, the prediction is contained in the corner of the paper that is folded up. Three corners will have edges to them and one will be the original center of the paper. The center is easy to locate as it is the area with folds. Proceed to tear the folded paper into quarters. Of course, three stacks of pieces will be blank inside and the corner piece will still contain the message. Place them together in your hand so that you keep the center part with the message on the bottom. Drop all the pieces except the piece with the message into an ashtray or plate. Proceed to burn what looks to be all the pieces. As they are burning, instruct the girl to visualize her message. Meanwhile, bring your hand down out of site and open up the folded center. You can bring your hand below the table or turn around as you ask her to whisper the message to someone. Peek at the message and discard it. At this point, it is all acting. As the paper stops burning, stare into the smoke and magically come up with her message.
